About this bottle
Jacquesson numbers its non-vintage cuvées (pronounced koo-VAY), and each number is a separate blend built around a single harvest. Nº 735 is based on the 2007 harvest. We confirm the current number in the series when you order.
It smells and tastes like a late holiday breakfast: pineapple, papaya, freshly squeezed orange juice and croissant, plus white flowers and warm spices. It is mineral, balanced and elegant, with a creamy, round finish.
The blend is 47% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir and 20% Meunier. The house topped up the 2007 wines with wines from 2006 and 2005. It was a difficult year: the summer turned out to be the coldest in a decade, but a kind second half of August let the grapes ripen. Robert Parker considered this wine outstanding.
As an aperitif or with brunch. A good choice for anyone who wants to see how the weather of a single year changes a Champagne.
