About this bottle
Dom Pérignon is named after the Benedictine monk from the abbey in Hautvillers (pronounced oh-vee-LAIR) and has made only vintage Champagne from the start. Each wine comes from a single year and is made only when the year allows it.
2018 was a warm, generous year in Champagne, and the grapes ripened early and evenly. On the nose, ripe peach, lemon zest and white flowers, with almond and brioche underneath. On the palate, a creamy texture held together by clear acidity, and a long, slightly salty finish.
The blend combines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and the wine ages in the house's cellars for many years before disgorgement.
Serve at 9-11 °C, in a white wine glass rather than a flute. With oysters, lobster, aged cheeses and mushroom dishes. The box makes the bottle ready to give as a gift.
