About this bottle
René Geoffroy Les Houtrants Complantés is a dry white sparkling wine from France. It is a single-plot Champagne from premier cru vineyards (pronounced pruh-MYAY KREW), from one parcel planted with a mix of grape varieties (complantation), from the highly regarded artisan house René Geoffroy. Barrel fermentation and long ageing give it depth. On the nose, ripe apple, pear and citrus, followed by notes of brioche, nuts, spice and white flowers. The bubbles are fine and creamy, the palate full, complex and precise, and the finish very long and mineral, with a hint of bread. Excellent with seafood, lobster, poultry in sauces and mature cheeses.
About the houseA family of growers linked for nearly 400 years with Cumières, a premier cru village on the Marne. Since 2008 it has been based in Aÿ. It makes Champagnes with the clear fruit of the Marne Valley, but without malolactic fermentation, so they are fresh and able to age for a long time.History, people and stories: René Geoffroy
