About this bottle
Dom Pérignon 2013 in magnum (1.5 l) with the illuminated Luminous label. The house calls 2013 a return to the late vintages of the past: after a cold, wet winter and a cool, rainy spring, the vines began their growth cycle about two weeks later than usual, and this delay lasted until the harvest. The summer was the sunniest on record in Champagne, and Dom Pérignon did not begin picking until 28 September.
On the nose, the house lists the green notes of eucalyptus, mint and vetiver, yellow fruit (mirabelle plum, apricot), orange blossom, pepper, cardamom and liquorice, and finally salty and toasty notes. The wine is elegant and precise, with a silky base and a long, salty finish.
In a magnum, Champagne ages more slowly than in a standard bottle, because there is less air under the cork for the same volume of wine. The logo on the label lights up when you press the button on the bottom of the bottle. Serve at 10-12 °C with oysters, lobster and butter-based dishes, or lay it down in the cellar for years to come.
