About this bottle
Bollinger is a house in Aÿ (pronounced ah-EE) founded in 1829. Special Cuvée (pronounced spay-SYAL koo-VAY) is its core Champagne and the model of the house style.
The wine has a golden colour and a fine mousse. On the nose ripe fruit, baked apples, peaches and spice; on the palate good balance and a lightly toasty finish.
The blend is based on Pinot Noir. The house keeps some of its reserve wines in magnums, which gives depth and continuity of style.
Best served at 10-12 °C.
A magnum holds two standard bottles. In a larger bottle the wine matures more slowly, and it makes an impression on the table, which is why a magnum works well at a wedding, on New Year's Eve and at a larger party. The bottle comes in the house's box, ready to give as a gift.
