About this bottle

Prestige Vieilles Vignes is the most concentrated wine of the Duménil house from Chigny-les-Roses (pronounced shee-nyee lay rohz). It is made from the old vines of a single plot, Les Pecherines, planted in 1969.

It is crystal-clear in colour with a subtle sparkle. On the nose, vine peach, passion fruit and candied fruit, and on the palate it moves into the exotic: mango, pineapple and creamy touches.

The blend is 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir, half of it reserve wines. The old vines give concentrated fruit, and at least five years on the lees add depth.

An excellent aperitif and a partner for fish and seafood: scallop carpaccio, sole in saffron sauce, pan-fried prawns or crab and pineapple salad. The house has also made it in a three-litre jeroboam - it is worth asking about this format when you order.

About the houseA small family estate on the northern slope of the Montagne de Reims, which has made and sold its own Champagne since 1874. Today it is run by Frédérique Poret, the fifth generation, and its hallmarks are a perpetual reserve started in 1996 and old vintages kept in the family's œnothèque.History, people and stories: Duménil
