About this bottle
Bernard Bijotat is a family grower house from Romeny-sur-Marne, a village at the western end of the Marne Valley. Bernard runs it with his son Sébastien and makes Champagne from their own vineyards, mostly from Meunier, typical of this part of Champagne.
In 2013 the house bought two plots in Étréchy, a premier cru village (pronounced pruh-MYAY KREW) on the Côte des Blancs (pronounced koht day BLAHN), and makes this Blanc de Blancs from them (pronounced blahn duh BLAHN), i.e. a Champagne made only from Chardonnay.
Chardonnay gives a fresh Champagne with clear acidity that goes well with fish and seafood. The bottle comes in the house's own box, so it makes a gift without extra wrapping.
About the houseA family of growers from Romeny-sur-Marne, a village on the Marne between Charly-sur-Marne and Château-Thierry, on the Picardy edge of Champagne. Today two houses here bear the Bijotat name, run by two branches of the same family.History, people and stories: Bijotat
