About this bottle
Histoire de Fût is the vintage wine of Alain Bernard from Dizy (pronounced dee-zee), a premier cru village (pronounced pruh-MYAY KREW) in the Marne Valley. Instead of an ordinary label, the bottle carries an oval medallion.
Despite long ageing it keeps its freshness. In the glass it opens up gradually and shows more aromas with every minute, so it is worth serving in a larger glass and not chilling it too much.
It is Chardonnay from a single plot, Moque Bouteilles, from the 2015 vintage. The wine was fermented in barrels, without malolactic fermentation, and spent at least 60 months on its lees. It was bottled as a Brut Nature (pronounced broot na-TEWR), with no added sugar.
With fish in butter sauces, poultry and mature cheeses. A good gift for someone who likes growers' Champagnes.
About the houseA family house in Dizy, a village next to Hautvillers, where the Bernards' ancestors have grown vines since at least the 17th century. The founder, Arthur Bernard, made his own Champagne after hours while working for someone else, and dug the cellars where the bottles lie today with his own hands.History, people and stories: Alain Bernard
