About this bottle

Brut Réserve (pronounced broot ruh-ZAIRV) is the entry-level Champagne of the Paul Bara house from Bouzy (pronounced boo-ZEE) and a good introduction to the Pinot Noir of this grand cru village (pronounced grahn KREW).

It is golden in colour with an abundant sparkle. The nose is fresh and elegant: citrus, marzipan and fruit. On the palate it is lively, with balanced acidity and a lasting finish.

The blend is 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, half of it reserve wines. The wine does not go through malolactic fermentation and spends three years on the lees. It won a bronze medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2009.

Best with shellfish, for example pan-fried spiny lobster.

About the houseThe Bara family has farmed vineyards in Bouzy since 1833 and owns only grand cru plots here. The house focuses on Pinot Noir, blocks malolactic fermentation and makes one of the most highly regarded red wines in Champagne.History, people and stories: Paul Bara
