About this bottle
Louis Roederer is a family-owned, independent house from Reims (pronounced rans), which harvests most of its grapes from its own vineyards. It created Cristal, and in 2026 it celebrates its 250th anniversary.
Cristal was created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II, who asked for a clear bottle with a flat base. Today Roederer (pronounced ROH-duh-rer) makes it only in good years, using Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the house's best plots.
The house treats Cristal as a wine for food: with fish, seafood and poultry. In its box it is a gift for a big occasion.
