About this bottle
Canard-Duchêne is a house from Ludes (pronounced LOOD) on the Montagne de Reims (pronounced mohn-TAN-yuh duh RANS), founded in 1868 by Victor Canard and Léonie Duchêne. The double-headed eagle on the label recalls that the house supplied Champagne to the court of the Tsars. Today it belongs to the Thiénot group.
Charles VII is the prestige cuvée (pronounced koo-VAY) of the house, named in honour of King Charles VII, who was crowned in Reims Cathedral in 1429 (pronounced rans). The bottle has a distinctive squat shape and a dark label.
Good with dinner: poultry, fish in sauce and mature cheeses. An interesting alternative to the most popular brands when you are looking for Champagne as a gift.
