About this bottle
André Heucq is a winemaker from Cuisles in the Marne Valley. H-60 is his most unusual project.
90 million years ago Champagne lay at the bottom of the sea, and the chalk its vines grow on is a remnant of that period. Heucq decided to go back to those roots and submerged the bottles 60 metres below the surface of the Atlantic for 12 months. A constant temperature, darkness and pressure favour ageing.
Each bottle comes back with growths and deposits from the seabed, so no two look alike. The bottles are numbered and the series is short.
As a gift and for an occasion worth remembering. With seafood and oysters it fits not least because of its origins.
